It's that time of the quarter, where I realise that I've not actually blogged half the stuff I've finished, so you get a flurry of short and grumpy posts!
Next up this quarter is the Sapphire Dragon plushie. He's not actually sapphire, but it's a thing. Don't ask!
He was a very belated birthday present for a friend, to go with the cushion cover, and he is very much loved!
All things considered, this is a pretty simple make. There are a LOT of pieces, which can get a bit tricky to manage, but overall, the instructions are amazing, and everything fits perfectly.
See what I mean about a LOT of bits? I only lost one nostril piece though, so I'm pretty impressed. I had also failed to cut enough ear pieces, but that was quickly remedied when I realised!
The head goes together first, so you can walk around with a decapitated dragon head, should you wish... ooh, now I'm thinking about sizing this up and making it in faux leather and using it as a prop. Bad Beth!
Then you put the body together, which is a bit fiddly, but no worse than a bag pattern might be.
The head isn't attached here, I was just making sure it roughly fitted in the right place.
Because then you have to stuff it, and that means beans!
This was honestly the worst part! I'm bad at fiddly things that need a lot of manual dexterity, especially late in the evening, and I don't own a funnel, so I had to make one out of paper, which made even more of a mess! Plus I was dealing with some LARP admin at the same time.
I made a mess. A lot of a mess, and Jazz thought chasing the beads was hilarious, right until I threw her out the room in case she tried to eat one (she is not clever)
You fill the legs and the bean pouch, and position the bean pouch, then stuff it properly, and attach the head and horns.
And voila! An adorable little creature of destruction!
I'm not sure if this one has been named yet, I think there were some debates on what it should be called.
In the mean time, I am offering these as a custom item for sale on Blueberry Bits, and I'm planning to make one (possibly two) for myself. For reasons :D
Plush fabric from Plush Addict, felt from Hobbycraft, beans and stuffing from Amazon.

This is the Water Dragon, from Choly Knight's Floppy Dragon Plush pattern, and like all their patterns, they're really well written and well designed.
